Might be the miserable brit in me but I like this one better than the colour onr, for the off-smile, the tones and the hint of a table in the background.
One hundred percent agree, prefer the monochrome version; pose is more relaxed and natural, background more uniform (the light bar in the background on the colour portrait makes me feel a little uneasy, I don't know why; sorry Kirk).

I agree with Anonymous.
The B&W one looks more natural, candid even. The colour one is almost "too" well lit and looks more staged.
Both are perfect for different uses I am sure.
